Types of Oil Burners and Diffusers

Ceramic Tea Light Oil Burner(with water)

Best for: cosy ambience, occasional use

You’ll need: burner, tea light candle, water, diffuser oil

Place the burner on a stable, heat-safe surface away from curtains/drafts.

Fill the top dish with water (about 2/3 full).

Add diffuser oil using these ranges:

      • Small room (bathroom/bedroom): 3–5 sprays
      • Medium room (living room): 5–8 sprays
      • Large/open plan: 8–12 sprays

Light the tea light and let the fragrance release gradually.

Top up water as it evaporates. Never let the dish run dry while the candle is lit.

After use, extinguish the candle and allow the burner to cool before cleaning.

Ultrasonic Diffuser(water-based cool mist)

Best for: daily use, even scenting, bedrooms/workspace

You’ll need: diffuser, clean water, diffuser oil

      • Place the diffuser on a flat surface.
      • Fill with water to the marked line (common sizes below).
      • Add diffuser oil using the drop range for your water tank:

100 mL diffuser: 2–4 sprays

200 mL diffuser: 4–7 sprays

300 mL diffuser: 6–10 sprays

500 mL diffuser: 8–15 sprays

Turn on and start with a shorter session.

Adjust next time if needed (more sprays for a stronger throw, fewer for subtle).

Session guide:

Start with 30–60 minutes, then reassess.

For evening wind-down, try intermittent mode if your diffuser has it.

Electric Oil Warmer(no flame)

      • Best for: flame-free homes, consistent warmth
      • Add water if your warmer requires it.
      • Use the same drop ranges as a tea light burner:
      • 3–5 (small) | 5–8 (medium) | 8–12 (large)
      • Run for 30–90 minutes, ventilate, and avoid letting the dish dry out.

Add diffuser oil using these ranges:

      • Small room (bathroom/bedroom): 3–5 sprays
      • Medium room (living room): 5–8 sprays
      • Large/open plan: 8–12 sprays

Light the tea light and let the fragrance release gradually.

Top up water as it evaporates. Never let the dish run dry while the candle is lit.

After use, extinguish the candle and allow the burner to cool before cleaning.

Nebulising Diffuser(waterless, very strong)

      • Best for: large spaces, short bursts
      • Add oil to the reservoir as per device instructions.
      • Start with 1–2 minute bursts, then pause.
      • Increase gradually only if needed.
      • (These can be powerful. Less is more.)
